Workshops
Through our partnership with UWM-CUCD, we have developed a Funds of Knowledge
(FOK) approach to Parent Engagement. FOK training learning activities that we
have developed are as follows:
- Thinking Map—Journey, where they are from and what they have learned
from their parents
- Parent Profile
- Parents Rights and Responsibilities
- FOK Interviews
- Parents ask their own questions
- Digital photo project—parents illustrate how they support learning at
home through pictures which they bring to class. These pictures are put into
PowerPoint along with individual narrative for each picture.
- Parents captured the learning environment at home—involvement of parents
and development of reflective skills
- Photos are all taken by the parents
- Surveys on FOK of the Home and School
